The Rush of Last Minute Christmas Shopping

Posted by admin on May 18, 2011

It's getting down to the wire. The deadline to finish all deadlines is around the corner - so in the event you haven't completed your Christmas shopping, you had better start. That is, you had better start right after reading this informative essay on the joys of wise Christmas shopping. There's a lot of inherent issues when it comes to Christmas shopping. The first is funds. Oh, you don't mind a lot spending a fair amount for someone you love or even like a whole lot. However, what do you do when some colleague you have seen or times at after-work functions shows up at your office with a large box with a bow & an expectant smirk? I had someone show up at my place of business one time with a set of sterling silver julep cups from Tiffany co . The only hold they had on me was the fact that I sprang for the check at a not enjoyable lunch at of those über-masculine chophouses that some businessmen like to frequent., what do you do in this situation? Obviously, the man is way out of line, but he is sitting there along with his expectant smirk. He is seen you kick back a couple of martinis, so you cannot politely decline with some religious objection to holiday gift-giving.This is where a case of nice Scotch or wine, neatly deposited in to those tiny festive bags that are made for this purpose, comes in handy. It is not an cheap gift, but it is not a wildly inappropriate, either. Hand it over with lots of geniality & keep edging toward the door. Hit the elevator button for the man & tell him you'll see him in 2009, by golly.Another issue I see with Christmas is lugging around large gifts. Oh, I do know that there's organized individuals who do their shopping early & have everything shipped - even if it is across town, so they can pop out of their airplane/rental vehicle, camper looking fresh & chipper, than weighed-down & disorganized.I, however, am not of those people. I don't like the rush of last-minute shopping, but that is the way I do it. If I am travelling, I am carrying tons of crappily wrapped presents & dropping those cheap tiny pre-made bows like Hansel & Gretel dropping crumbs. & this year, if I am packing presents, I am without a doubt paying additional baggage fees. So that $50 blender my cousin asked for (to make smoothies, he says, in her dorm room, but since he also asked for tequila, I am guessing margarita smoothies) is going to finish up costing me $70, and, let's add the cost of the plane ticket & the airport parking back home & the rental automobile on the visitors side...you know, that is expensive blender.Even if you are driving across town, is not it better to bring all of your gifts in tiny bag? Give it some thought from the green point of view - less wrapping paper is better for the environment.I have thusly resolved to buy a set article for each of the gift groups at the elderly homestead. For example, the female members of my tribe will all get tiffany earrings - not all the same style of earrings, of work, but earrings. They come in small packages, & you can find earrings to make your partner happy, to put joy in to the hearts of teen-aged nieces, & go with those "nice blue scarves" of the more grandmotherly types. The tiny kids are even simpler than that: funds. Not gift cards, mind you, but nice, elderly school bills. Gift cards need parental input; to give funds is to give the gift of complete independence. Funds can be spent on toys & sweet or saved carefully for all kinds of other icy stuff. Think of this as an educational gift, & make much of it as such when you hand it over, in case somebody think you are merely being lazy. Finally, what earrings are to a woman's gift box, so are cufflinks to a man's. This is the ideal gift for any man who wears shirts or desires to impress people. For the blokes who wear shirts, these nifty tiny items can fasten cuffs. For guys who don't, the cufflinks can sit on the dresser & individuals who see them can think that there is more to these guys than shirtlessness.

Fortunately, cuff links come in a lot of styles & are available at lots of prices. From gold & jeweled to enameled & covered with sports logos, there is something for everyone on your Christmas list - & all in small, small boxes.
